



Not only does that enhance the sense of Clink being a precocious toddler, but CG-67 quickly takes on the role of exasperated parent, at once embodying and quietly satirizing the role. Echo allows her to serve as overseer, and she snuffs out Clink’s nascent rebellion once the Bad Batch’s repairs are complete. He’s stopped by an officious protocol droid, CG-67, who has had her authority overridden by Echo. In the first case, Clink is a bit of a petty authoritarian, and attempts to take charge of the other astromech droids once Echo has “freed” them. To that, “Cornered” adds a pair of comparatively small storytelling elements to enhance the effect. Echo temporarily frees the little droid and his comrades to help the crew repair their ship, which he’s more than happy to do. He appears in Season 1, Episode 4, “Cornered,” as the property of a shady Gran trader on Pantora. The object of their affection is Clink, an LE series repair droid who comes to the aid of the Bad Batch in a timely fashion. Star Wars: The Bad Batch, however, may have stumbled upon a new contender, and judging by the chatter on social media, Star Wars fans are already in love. In the ensuing years, Star Wars has upped its game in the cute droid department: most notably with BB-8 in the sequel trilogy. In fact, the first heroes ever to appear onscreen were a pair of cute droids – R2-D2 and C-3PO – who played a significant role in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
